Raven by Ali Can Söylemezoğlu

Flapping its pitch-black wings,
The raven soars high
As it sings
Its haunting song;

Perched on a naked tree branch
No camouflaging leaves
Covering the raven

It is hidden
By the dark, bleak night
Only with the flashes
Of the dazzling lightening
Do we see
Its haunting silhouette;

Perceived by many
As the bringer of
Destruction
And terrible misfortune
Shunned by societies aplenty
The raven sings
Its haunting song;

The truth is clear rarely
The raven judged unfairly
Under the pitch-black feathers
Lies wisdom and knowledge
Along with
The truth

Or maybe
Many are made
A fool
Simply by
The haunting song
Of the raven

Still, with a skin so deep
Spending all day
And night
The raven sings
Its haunting song.
